RV Transport

As the name suggests RV is a recreational vehicle and this means that RVs can be of different types depending on your personal preference. But one thing is clear that when it concerns TV transport, you have to be rather cautious choosing the transporting company, for after all, a RV is a greatly valued possession for the entire family. One of the first suggestions that come up in mind is that when you are choosing a RV transport company, make sure who you are talking to, whether they are brokers or the direct company who would haul your vehicle. You also need to find out whether the driver has adequate experience in loading your particular kind of RV. In fact, you should ask as many questions as possible before you finalize the contract with a RV transport company. The loading is an important aspect of RV transport and you must enquire whether it requires special equipment or any special permit. In case the RV transport company can answer these questions comfortably, it is likely that they know their business. Regarding the cost involved, of course you would shop around for the best price but make sure that you do not waste several thousand dollars just to save a few hundred. Especially when you are thinking of a large RV transport. Professional RV transport companies hire experienced drives as well as loaders and you can be sure that your RV would remain in safe hands.
Come to think of it RV transport can be a fairly simple task. You could reserve in advance and this can be done nearly two months in advance. So the RV transport company would usually call you 10 to 24 hours before pre-decided pick up time. Then the driver arrives at the scheduled time to inspect any damage etc which might be there in your RV and he does this inspection along with you. Then the RV is loaded on the truck. When the truck reaches the destination, the driver calls you up and both of you again inspect the RV for any damage incurred during transit. Then you take delivery.
One point to remember is that you need to call the RV transport company at least 2 weeks in advance to schedule the pick up date. However if the need is urgent, individual RV transport companies work out their schedules in different ways and you could discuss this matter with them directly. Your RV would be shipped within 2 or 3 days after pick up. Prices for RV transport usually depend on the distance to be traveled, RV size and the mileage incurred during transportation.
Every reputed TV transport company would request a contract to be signed before the RV is shipped and a token amount as initial deposit is also required to be paid before the RV is shipped. However there might be exceptions, depending on the transport company or your past relations with the company, if any. You could pay the deposit either in cash, cashier's check or even postal money order. Even major credit cards are accepted. In case you find that the RV has arrived in a damaged condition, the first thing you have to ensure that the driver realizes that the damages are new and were not included in the original bill of lading. Inform the broker company or the RV transport company and inform them of the damage. Usually a reputed firm would ask for an estimate of the damage and send you a check within a couple of weeks. However you must be sure that you are ready with the right documentation to support your claim.
